“We wanted to share some of the UK’s best days out, that don’t cost an arm and a leg.”
The Lady Lever Art Gallery, which opened in 1922, was founded by William Hesketh Lever (1851-1925) and dedicated to the memory of his wife Elizabeth.
Lever’s business empire made him a very rich man. By 1912 he had personal assets valued at nearly three million pounds.
The gallery is said to have one of the best collections of 18th century furniture in the country and its collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings is world-famous.
It opens from 10am – 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
