According to a recent report, international travel in 2024 is already up 11% over 2023 and could even surpass pre-pandemic levels. But navigating the complexities of the world requires vigilance, which means staying informed about which countries are truly safe. Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP) recently released its annual list of the Safest Countries in the World for 2025, based on crime, terrorism risks, health systems and more. Iceland was deemed the safest country for 2024, Australia was ranked second and Canada rounds out the top three. Spoiler Alert: The United States did not make the list.
Chef José Andrés To Open His First Hotel
In 2008, Spanish-born chef José Andrés opened the original Bazaar restaurant in Los Angeles. Since then, he has expanded his hospitality empire to include some 40 restaurants, bars and lounges—including outposts in Miami Beach, Chicago, New York and of course his adopted hometown of Washington, DC. Now Andrés is preparing to launch his first hotel—in Georgetown. Scheduled to open in 2027, The Bazaar House by José Andrés will be a 67-room luxury hotel that will feature a private membership area in the penthouse called The Bazaar Club, which will include a signature restaurant and a lounge.
