MARSHALL, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) – The Michelson Museum of Art has reopened the newly remodeled David Weisman Hirsch Discovery Room. The space is designed specifically for children aged five and under, filled with art books, engaging toys, and interactive activities.
Museum executives were grateful to the generous donors who made the project possible. They hosted a special reception attended by community members and the late David Weisman Hirsch family.
“We are so excited to welcome families back to the Discovery Room,” said Dinora Harris, Executive Director of the Michelson Museum of Art. “The new design is all about fostering creativity and making art accessible to our youngest visitors. We’re confident that children and their families will find endless inspiration in this space.”
The Michelson Museum of Art was established in 1985 to accept and care for the life works of Russian-American Artist Leo Michelson (1887-1978). It has become nationally recognized for its early 20th-century American Art Collection, African Masks, and Chinese Opera Puppet Collections.
The museum is located at 216 N. Bolivar Street in Marshall and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission is free.
